Advance Implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management and Governance
Support the development and implementation of Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) policies and plans that emphasize cross-sectoral collaboration to support climate, nature and pollution action that is aligned with national priorities and global multilateral commitments including Agenda 2030, the Paris Agreement, the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework, and the Convention to Combat Desertification (for example, through the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme). Enhance national governance capacities to promote inclusive, evidence-based, and multistakeholder approaches to water governance, fostering transboundary cooperation and disaster and conflict prevention. Facilitate the creation of public-private partnerships through IWRM to finance sustainable and climate-resilient water infrastructure, with a focus on nature-based solutions and ecosystem-based management solutions. Promote IWRM as a framework to deliver ecosystem management and water quality, peace building and disaster risk reduction, supporting national level action on IWRM in collaboration with UN country teams.

United Nations System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation
