Webinar: SDG 6 ‘acceleration snapshots’ launch event

In celebration of World Water Day and the UN 2023 Water Conference, the UN-Water Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG 6 (IMI-SDG6) is preparing a set of ‘acceleration snapshots’ to draw attention to successful country action in delivering SDG 6.

Water and sanitation data are essential for stronger accountability, increased commitment and investments, and more effective decision-making. These country examples demonstrate, through real-life recent examples, that accelerated progress is possible and are being shared for inspiration and learning.

IMI-SDG6 supports countries in monitoring water- and sanitation-related issues and in compiling country data to report on global progress towards SDG 6. The snapshots have been identified based on the official country data reported on the SDG 6 global indicators and collated by IMI-SDG6. The latest data are available at the SDG 6 Data Portal.

Join the ‘acceleration snapshots’ launch webinar on 16 Mar 2023 at 09:00-10.30 CET and 16:00-17:30 to learn more about these examples of successful country action, and to discuss how data can help identify progress, how the progress can be understood, and how this could inform future SDG 6 action. The webinar will start with a brief presentation of the work, followed by a discussion about lessons learned, and will end with questions and reflections from the audience.

Countries featured in the set of snapshots include Albania, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, China, Ghana, Greece, Indonesia, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, North Macedonia, Pakistan, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
