Our current trajectory towards achieving SDG 6 by 2030 is seriously off-track. Without rapid, transformative progress, the world risks missing this Goal, which in turn will have negative impacts across the entire 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Water and sanitation data are essential for stronger accountability, increased commitment and investments, and more effective decision-making. As part of its core role, the UN-Water Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG 6 (IMI-SDG6) presents a series of ‘acceleration snapshots’ to draw attention to successful country action in delivering SDG 6.

These concise and accessible country examples demonstrate, through real-life recent examples, that accelerated progress is possible. The snapshots are based on the official country data reported on the SDG 6 global indicators and collated by IMI-SDG6 and are being shared to inspire and inform.

UN-Water Publications

UN-Water’s publications can be divided into two main groups: the publications that represent all Members and Partners of UN-Water – the collective products – and the publications that are under the UN-Water umbrella but produced by groups or individual UN-Water Members and/or Partners – the related products.
