United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)
To address the challenges related to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), UNICEF works with partners to strengthen national systems, with particular attention to gender considerations; UNICEF also support initiatives for WASH in schools and health centres, taking into account the specific needs of women, girls and children living with disabilities.
Integrating the core principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme UNICEF as per new UNICEF Strategic Plan, 2018–2021 for children, UNICEF WASH support focusses on action within SDG Goal 6: “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all” which include delivering safe water to unreached populations, improved girl-friendly sanitation and handwashing facilities, and the delivery of services in homes, schools and health centres in times of stability and conflict alike
