ESCAP contribution to the WMO Third Pole Regional Climate Center-Network (TPRCC-Network)

The WMO Third Pole Regional Climate Center-Network (TPRCC)-Network has been established to meet the region-specific climate and cryosphere service requirements. It is comprised of three nodes based on the geographical distribution of responsibilities: Northern Node (led by China), Southern Node (led by India), and Western Node (led by Pakistan), with China playing the overall coordinating role. The TPRCC-Network will play a pivotal role in fostering collaborative regional climate services within its domain, effectively addressing the needs of stakeholders on adaptation to climate change, and decision-making across the area. Network through its Third Pole Climate Forum (TPCF) will provide regular weather and climate services customized for the TP’s riskscape. ESCAP will translate the Third Pole Climate Forum (TPCF) products into socio-economic impact forecasting.

United Nations System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation

The Contributing Actions are key initiatives supporting the United Nations System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation, aligning individual and joint efforts across UN entities and partnering organizations to advance global water and sanitation goals. These actions are integrated into the Collaborative Implementation Plan (CIP) Results Framework 2025-2028, which provides a structured approach to achieving system-wide impact through coordinated UN efforts.
The Priority Collaborative Actions outlined in the framework focus on enhancing water security, improving governance, strengthening climate resilience, and accelerating progress on sanitation and hygiene. By fostering system-wide collaboration among UN agencies, these actions help drive policy coherence, knowledge sharing, and innovative solutions to address the world’s most pressing water challenges.
