WHO: Safe, climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable health care facilities - an overview

The World Health Organization’s Climate Change and Health Unit has released a new technical document to guide the development of safe, climate-resilient, and environmentally sustainable health care facilities, with safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) at their heart.

Across all health care settings, functional basic infrastructure is indispensable to delivering high-quality health care and services to patients. This includes safe WASH services, and cleaning and waste management services, as critical barriers to the spread of infectious diseases.

The document offers clear definitions, actionable strategies, and essential tools to help implement sustainable practices in health care systems worldwide.
