Youth at UN 2023 Water Conference

The UN 2023 Water Conference, the first UN Conference on water in almost 50 years, took place from 22-24 March 2023.

Youth participation in the Conference was a key priority for the co-hosts of the Conference, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Netherlands, who worked to include young people at all stages of the planning process and in as many sessions of the Conference as possible.

A number of students and young professionals were invited to act as youth rapporteurs for both the in-person and offline proceedings of the Conference. Members of the SIWI World Water Week Junior Rapporteurs programme reported on livestreamed events, and members of the IWA-Grundfos Youth Action for SDG6 Fellowship reported on the in-person sections.

Their personal insights and reflections on the events they attended are reproduced in these documents. Views expressed are those of the youth rapporteurs themselves, and do not reflect the positions of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, UN-Water or UN DESA.
