WMO and FAO partnering to enhance early warnings for the agriculture sector

Agriculture is highly vulnerable to climate hazards like droughts, floods, and heatwaves. Early Warnings for All (EW4ALL) is a groundbreaking initiative to ensure that everyone is protected from hazardous weather, water, or climate events through life-saving early warning systems by the end of 2027. As part of the UN Secretary-General’s Acceleration Agenda, EW4ALL is a key contribution to delivering climate justice to those at the frontlines of the climate crisi

EW4ALL is spearheaded by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), with support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

FAO and WMO are collaborating in various countries on EW4ALL. A notable example is their partnership in Somalia under the Somalia Water and Land Information Management (SWALIM) project, aimed at enhancing the country's early warning capabilities.
