UNDP: The Climate Dictionary - Nature Edition

The Climate Dictionary

The newly-published Climate Dictionary: Nature Edition, from the United Nations Development Programme, highlights a crucial issue: humanity’s relationship with nature is out of balance. Currently, people are using resources at a rate equivalent to 1.7 Earths - well beyond what the planet can regenerate.

To help tackle this growing crisis, UNDP are encouraging more people to get involved in protecting and restoring nature and biodiversity. For those who may be new to environmental action, or who are familiar with climate change but less so with the biodiversity crisis, the Climate Dictionary: Nature Edition explains some of the most important terms and ideas in clear, jargon-free language, such as:

  • Blue economy
  • Nature-based solutions
  • Planetary boundaries
  • Land degradation
  • Rewilding
