Guy Ryder, UN Under Secretary-General for Policy, emphasized the need to make the multilateral system more effective and responsive to modern global challenges. With over 130 Heads of State and Government expected to attend the Summit, the event will also include two "action days" with participation from NGOs, academics, and the private sector. So far, over 7,000 participants have registered.

A major outcome of the Summit will be the adoption of a Pact for the Future, which will consist of five key chapters on:

  • Sustainable Development and Financing.
  • Peace and Security.
  • Science, Technology, and Innovation.
  • Youth and Future Generations.
  • Transformation of Global Governance.

As annexes, the Pact will also include a Global Digital Compact and a Declaration on Future Generations. The Global Digital Compact aims to address digital divides and govern emerging technologies like AI. The Declaration seeks to ensure today’s decisions consider future needs.
