GCF: Practical guidelines for designing climate-resilient sanitation projects

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) – a critical element of the historic Paris Agreement of the UNFCCC - is the world’s largest climate fund, mandated to support developing countries raise and realize their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) ambitions towards low-emissions, climate-resilient pathways.

Developed with input from the Climate Resilient Sanitation Coalition, including the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and World Health Organization (WHO), this new annex to GCF’s “Sectoral guide: Water security” provides needed guidance on building sanitation systems that can withstand climate impacts.

As an accredited “readiness” partner to GCF, WHO will now work closely with coalition members, especially UNICEF, to shape future GCF proposals aimed at advancing resilient and sustainable sanitation solutions worldwide.
