39th UN-Water Meeting

The 39th UN-Water Meeting was held on 12-13 March 2024 at the headquarters of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy.

Hosted by the new UN-Water Chair, and President of IFAD, Alvaro Lario, the first day of the biannual meeting focused on preparations for upcoming meetings on water and sustainable development, including two UN conferences to be convened in 2026 and 2028.

UN-Water Members, Partners with Special Status, Partners, and Observers engaged in a ‘world café’ brainstorming session on five issues related to the collaborative implementation the strategy, including leadership, country engagement, UN system alignment, and mainstreaming water into intergovernmental processes.
