The open session of the 37th UN-Water Meeting took place at the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Headquarters in Paris, France, on 5-6 December 2022. The Meeting brought together representatives from UN-Water Members and Partners to advance progress on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030.
During the open session of the meeting, UN-Water Members, Partners with special status, Partners, and Observers discussed and coordinated opportunities for their respective organizations. Agenda items included:
- preparations for the UN 2023 Water Conference;
- the SDG 6 Capacity Development Initiative;
- “activating” the Water Action Agenda; and
- SDG 6 global monitoring.
In addition, interactive discussions were held on the themes “Water for Health,” “Water for Development,” “Water for Climate, Resilience and Development,” and “Water for Cooperation” in preparation for dialogues on the same themes to be held at the UN 2023 Water Conference.
On the afternoon of the second day, representatives from UN-Water Members and Partners with special status convened for a closed session focused on UN-Water procedural matters.
