2023 SDG Summit

The 2023 SDG Summit will take place on 18-19 September 2023 in New York, marking the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with high-level political guidance on transformative and accelerated actions leading up to the deadline of 2030.

General Assembly

The 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is a global plan of action to drive economic prosperity and social well-being while protecting the environment. Countries established the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) to boost efforts to achieve the goals.

The SDG Summit in September 2023 will be the second time the HLPF is convened under the auspices of the General Assembly at the level of Heads of State and Government. Convened by the President of the General Assembly, the Summit will mark the half-way point to the deadline set for achieving the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

The Summit will be the centrepiece of the High-level Week of the General Assembly. It will respond to the impact of multiple and interlocking crises facing the world and is expected to reignite a sense of hope, optimism, and enthusiasm for the 2030 Agenda. The outcome of the Summit will be a negotiated political declaration.
