UN meetings on water: Agreement to respond to recommendations

During a retreat last week, UN-Water agreed to respond to the recommendations of the High-level Panel on Water and the UN-Water External Review regarding establishing UN meetings on water at the highest possible level.

High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

The creation of a UN-Water Task Force, co-cordinated by UN DESA and WMO, will enable exploring objectives, frequency, budget and format of such meetings, including identification of national champions, donors and other partners. These multi-stakeholder meetings will enable Member States to review SDG 6 implementation, share lessons and experiences, make commitments to mobilize resources, strengthen accountability and accelerate progress on SDG 6.
