Selected Coordinators of Zaragoza, Bonn and Perugia Offices for the UN-Water associated programmes

On July 2007 the tree chairs for the UN-Water associated programmes have been selected for the Water Decade offices in Zaragoza and Bonn, and the World Water Assessment Programme office in Perugia. They are:

Mr. Carlos Fernandez-Jauregui for Zaragoza,

Dr. Olcay Unver for Perugia,

Prof Reza Ardakanian for Bonn.

Mr. Carlos Fernandez-Jauregui background in water issues spans 31 years, with wide-ranging experience as research engineer, project officer for developing programmes, and director of an international research centre.

Almost 20 years of Mr. Fernandez-Jauregui's career has been with UNESCO, first as a Regional Hydrologist across Latin America and the Caribbean, at the Regional Office for Science and Technology (ROSTLAC) in Montevideo, and the past 6 years in Paris UNESCO HQ as Deputy Coordinator of the UN World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP).

He have been Coordinating of the 24 UN agencies for the preparation of the WWDR 1 and 2 + Case Studies and of activities on water matters for the LAC region.

Dr. Olcay Unver have been awarded with the World Water Council Award and Medal and nominated for the Great World Water Award by Turkish President Demirel and United Nations Turkey Resident Coordinator A.W. Cestar.

During his long career Dr. Unver was Senior Advisor of the Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry for one year, he was President (equivalent in public service to undersecretary)of the Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry, Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP). He have been

Prof Reza Ardakanian experience is linked to the key solution to the water, sanitation and environment challenges.

During his long experience, Prof. Ardakanian worked as Founding Director of the UNESCO centre of RCUWM, Founding Chair of the Governing Board of (ICQHS-Yazd), Vice Minister for Water Affairs in Ministry of Energy of Iran, for South West Asia, CIS and Middle East countries, as a developing region, and in Iran as a developing country.
