UN World Water Development Report 3: Water in a Changing World
Messages for Youth
The World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) recently published the 4-page document, Messages to Youth. Based on the findings of the latest World Water Development Report (WWDR-3), Messages to Youth communicates the key ideas about the threats facing the world's supply of fresh water and includes lots of links to interesting web sites for anyone who wants to get involved in safeguarding our water resources.

UNICEF Voices of Youth: Water, environment and sanitation
The UNICEF Voices of Youth web site has lots of interesting stuff for children and students who want to explore and become active in the field of water environment and health. It provides information on preventing water-related diseases and gives ideas and practical advice to young people on how to initiate their own community projects. It also features real life stories, interactive games (Water Alert), brain teasers and more. The photo on the left is from one of the site's photo journals.

Water Rights and Wrongs: A young people's summary of the Human Development Report 2006 - Beyond scarcity: Power, poverty, and the global water crisis
This 32-page booklet, prepared by The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Peace Child International, includes drawings, poems and stories on water and development, entirely made by and for young people.

Water Rights and Wrongs is available on line in English, French and Spanish.

It is also available as a pdf document in Arabic (9.6 MB - large file), Basque (2.1 MB), English (5.1 MB), French (5.6 MB) and Spanish (5.5 MB)

Water in the Twenty First Century .
Water in the Twenty First Century
The United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Centre of Catalonia (UNESCOCAT) and Caixa Catalunya’s Community Projects Department has developed educational materials based on UN-Water's flagship report, the World Water Development Report. These materials are not currently available in English.

The most recent collection, which is based on WWDR-2 and includes both posters and interactive teaching materials, is available in Catalan and Spanish. The first collection of educational posters, based on WWDR-1, is also available in French and Bosniak/Croat/Serb

UNESCOCAT has also created a computer game for upper primary and secondary students that allows students to explore and test their knowledge of the important lessons about water that are presented in the documentary ‘A Dream of Water’. For more information about how to obtain ‘The Dream of Water’ materials, please contact the UNESCO Centre of Catalonia

Water Aid: Chandra Water Aid: Chandra .
Water Aid: Splash Out! and Learn Zone
The two children on the left are Chandra and Amina. They help guide children and young people through Water Aid's kids site: Splash Out! The site is full of interesting facts and features, including the on line comic: The Adventures of Super Toilet. The site also has several interactive games, including 'Turdlywinks' and 'Pani the handpump'. Check out Splash Out!

The Water Aid site also has a 'Learn Zone' with lots of multimedia teaching resources for primary and secondary schools. Visit Water Aid's Learn Zone.

Trishna and the Dream of Water
Trishna and the Dream of Water is a children's environmental storybook dealing with water in dryland areas. Published in 2006, it is part of UNEP's Tunza Environmental Series for Children. 'Tunza' means "to treat with care of affection" in Kiswahili.
