7th Economic and Social Council Youth Forum

The 2030 Agenda for sustainable development includes specific goals and targets that have an impact on, and require the contribution of young people, that contribute to building resilience in communities. In this context, the success of this Agenda will depend on how all sectors of societies, governments and young people engage in its implementation.

The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum, to be held on 30-31 January 2018 at United Nations Headquarters, New York, will provide a platform for youth to engage in a dialogue with Member States and to discuss the policy frameworks and promote innovative, institutionalised approaches and initiatives for advancing the youth development agenda at national, regional and global levels with a view to promoting solutions to the global challenge of strengthening resilience and sustainable development.

During the forum, thematic breakout sessions will provide space for open discussions by a wide range of stakeholders on the development needs and contributions that young people can make to reach the SDGs that will be reviewed by the HLPF in 2018.
